Hazardous Waste Disposal

Carrying Hazardous Waste Hazardous Waste Dropoff Hazardous Waste Truck

Flammable. Toxic. Corrosive. Poison. Caution!

If these words appear on products in your home or business, these substances should not be thrown in the garbage or poured down the drain.

Other material such as rechargeable batteries, medical sharps and fluorescent bulbs of all types also cannot be placed in the garbage and must be managed properly.

Regional residents can bring any extra or unwanted toxic substances, bulbs and medical sharps from their households to the Household Hazardous Waste facility free of charge.

Businesses that generate a small amount of hazardous waste each year can manage their waste through WLSSD's Clean Shop Program.

Toxic materials poured down the drain can affect the efficiency of wastewater treatment and eventually reach our local waterways. Hazardous materials in garbage can leach into groundwater from landfills. Help protect the health of people and the environment; use safe disposal services for hazardous waste.
