Resources
Residents can bring unwanted toxic materials to WLSSD's Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility to be recycled or disposed of properly for FREE! Materials that should be brought to the HHW facility include paints, sealants, insect and weed killers and fluorescent bulbs. See the Resources box to the right for a complete guide, tips on using less toxic cleaning products and more.
The facility is conveniently located at 2626 Courtland Street. Please see the HHW hours of operations.
Planning a move? or selling a house? Use the Household Hazardous waste facility when you clean out the garage or basement.
Painting? Save money and avoid waste by buying the right amount of paint! Make sure you don't buy more paint than you really need: use this interactive calculator from the Paint Quality Institute, or try this printable chart to determine how much you need for your project.
Product Reuse Center
Need just a little paint for a project? Safe and useable products brought in to the Household Hazardous Waste facility are available free of charge in the Product Reuse Center.
Using products up helps reduce the amount of material that must be processed and disposed of as waste. Check the Project Reuse Center before buying a whole new gallon of paint for a small project and help reduce waste even more!
The Product Reuse Center is open during regular HHW facility hours to all residents age 18 or older. Residents can take a maximum of 5 items per day for personal use. Selection changes daily.
