Recycling is a great way to reduce waste, save energy, and help the environment. Recycling rules
have changed over the years as technology and local services have evolved. Follow current
guidelines to ensure that your waste is recycled the RIGHT way.
Clean, properly sorted materials are more useful for manufactures that make new
items from your old containers.
Check with WLSSD or your garbage hauler if you have any questions.
Recycling is available to all residents in the WLSSD service area. Guidelines for recycling certain materials may vary depending on where you live.
If you live in a city or town within the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District legislative boundary area you can recycle at the curb. Contact your garbage hauler for details.
If you are a rural resident or live in an area where curbside recycling is not offered,
you can recycle at recycling sheds, conveniently located throughout the surrounding
townships, or at the Materials Recovery Center.
WLSSD funds and oversees operations within the township recycling sheds. Contact the WLSSD Hotline at (218) 722-0761 with questions.
